When the Johnston family decided to go X275 racing last year they had one thing on their mind, winning. The car was the first in-house built car from the KBX Performance one-stop-shop business model. Pressurized Solutions built the chassis and turbo kit, while KBX Performance and Bennett Racing blue printed the 400x engine. After a couple of wins and promising data from the 2014 season, the Johnston’s were poised for a break out 2015 season. After a semi-final finish at the 2015 U.S. Street Car Nationals in Florida, Johnston would roll into the biggest small tire race in the world at SGMP and take home the #1 qualifier and 1st place prize.
With KBX Performance’s John Kolivas tuning and Mark Menscer consulting on the chassis the sky was the limit heading into Texas. Johnston kicked things off with a 4.54 pass off the trailer and just a few passes later, Jared popped off a 4.46 to take the record. Johnston backed up his record pass in style by running an lighting quick 4.44. From the #1 qualifying spot Jared made his way through a stout field to take home the win. Congrats to Jared and his entire crew on their stellar start to the 2015 season. Jared would also like to thank the companies and sponsors that make their record setting program possible.
